Orem is at a critical point right now as we face growth, a new school district, aging infrastructure and many other issues. I have a decades-long commitment to Orem with experience as a legislator, board member, business owner, and community servant. I am prepared to bring the thoughtful, collaborative vision our city needs to navigate and conquer the challenges ahead to keep Orem the greatest city in Utah. My public service is guided by these principles:
- Integrity and Accountability – I believe in being honest and voting consistent with my personal values and principles. I also believe that I am accountable to those who elect me, and though I cannot please everyone, I will listen and try my best to represent your needs.
- Citizen Involvement – Engaging citizens in policy development provides opportunity to make better decisions. When citizens are heard and valued, they know we care, even if not every decision aligns with their preference. Limited Government Intervention – Individual freedoms and responsibility should be free from unnecessary government regulations. Personal property rights, free enterprise, and economic freedom greatly increase individual and family quality of life.
- Civility and Transparency – Civility and Transparency in government promote unity and better governance. When elected officials treat each other and citizens with respect, trust and understanding increase. When citizens can see that even when disagreement exists, respect is maintained, they have confidence in their officials.
- Fiscal Responsibility – Care must be taken in all monetary decisions to maintain economic stability now and for future generations. Balanced budgets, limited bonding and elimination of waste secure a viable future.
No matter the vote I take, I am committed to ensuring that my record reflects the values of our community. Even if we disagree on a decision I make, you can trust it is based on principles and values, not personal interest or political agendas.
