We are creating a
new school district
This is an exciting time for our communities. Lindon, Orem, Pleasant Grove, and Vineyard are forming a new school district. It has been 100 years since Alpine School District was formed and we are now part of laying the foundation for our new district -- hopefully for another century.
Education is often recognized as the single greatest factor opening doors for individual advancement. Likewise, a strong system of public education is essential for communities and nations to advance. This will be OUR DISTRICT for our kids and our community.
The first step is to elect the school board. The board sets the tone for how district leadership should perform and how the district will interact with the community. In two ways they also determine who the superintendent and business administrator (the district's chief financial officer) will be. First, they lead the hiring process and make the final selection. Second, the superintendent and business administrator will look at the newly elected board and ask, "Are these capable, strong leaders who understand their role and mine? Is this a group I want to work for?"
Stronger Together believes that we need board members who are:
- Principled
- Place students first
- Seek to engage with community members
- Willing to make difficult decisions
- Work productively and respectfully with all others
What characteristics do you feel are most important in our board members?

Voting
Primary election (August 12)
- All seats, except seat 7, will participate in the primary election. Seat 7 has only two candidates running.
- Your ballot will only show candidates for the board seat where you reside. You vote for the candidate of your choice in your board seat.
- The two candidates receiving the most votes will move on to the general election.
General Election (November 4)
- Again you will vote for a board member for the seat which covers your area.
Stronger Together's Position
We are fortunate that there are so many qualified people running for office. We believe it speaks well for the start of our new district. Stronger Together will not endorse school board candidates before the primary election but may give stamps of approval to every candidate who meets our standards of excellence and experience, even multiple candidates per race. We may endorse specific candidates for the general election.
